Hi! I'm Laura Brandes and I have both type 1 diabetes and celiac disease. I started this blog with the hope of inspiring others with these (and other) chronic conditions. If you're looking for motivation, humour, perspective and support, you've come to the right place.

I am not a doctor nor am I a certified diabetes educator. I am simply a person with a lust for life and years’ worth of experience living with diabetes. Neither am I perfect. However, I do make an effort to do my best every single day.

I love being outdoors, being active and travelling. I have a degree in wildlife biology and my favourite animal is the peregrine falcon (known to reach speeds of 320km/hr!). I work as a writer and editor in the realm of scientific communications. I enjoy hiking, cycling, reading, writing and major league baseball. I am a Detroit Tigers fan through and through.

I have a wonderful husband who is unconditionally supportive, an amazing network of family and friends, and a charming (yet demanding) cat named Jack.
